“THE VMRC CONSOLE HAS DISCONNECTED…ATTEMPTING TO RECONNECT.” Windows 8 vSphere client
THE VMRC CONSOLE HAS DISCONNECTED…ATTEMPTING TO RECONNECT.
The vSphere 5 client is using an IE plugin that isn’t compatible with IE10 as of this date. As of yet I haven’t found anyway to use the legacy plugin. For now you can either run vSphere within an XP VM or if you must use it in Win 8 you can do one of the following:
- Download and use VMware Guest Console. – http://labs.vmware.com/flings/vgc
- Upgrade vCenter to 5.1 and use the 51. Client. You cannot point a 5.1 client at vCenter 5.
UPDATE: Thanks to a reader, I have been informed that there is a new update for the VSphere 5.0 client that resolves this issue.
VMware vSphere Client v5.0 Update 2 : VMware-viclient-all-5.0.0-913577
On Windows 8 •VMware vSphere Client v5.0 Update 2 : VMware-viclient-all-5.0.0-913577 works perfectly.
No need to remove the IE10, “as I have seen it some websites to remove IE10 ”
I know the 5.1 Clients work but for those who are still on ESX 5.0 they cannot use the 5.1 clients. Use the •VMware vSphere Client v5.0 Update 2 : VMware-viclient-all-5.0.0-913577 to resolve the issue.
Thanks for the input, I will update the post!
Cheers – great post. Didn’t work for me. Even reinstalled latest vsphere client. In the end, after exiting client, found killing any stray vmware-vmrc.exe processes in task manager did the trick.
